If you are thinking seriously about moving your family out to Spain to live there are a few considerations you may need to look into. For example, if you have children you will need to be located close to Spanish schools so they can continue their education. Ksera can help you find a property ideal for you & close to Spanish schools & any other amenities you feel you require for your family.

To start a new life in Spain in Spanish properties with your family is an exciting opportunity for everyone. Children spend much more time outdoors, and take to learning a second language with ease..and will soon become fluent in Spanish.

Here education is compulsory from aged 6 to age 16. Spanish schooling is increasingly considered to be of a better standard than many other EU countries (UK Included), with less discipline problems.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS

All international schools are fee paying, and these fees will vary from area to area. Some of these schools teach in English and Spanish..some teach exclusively in English. They usually follow the same path as the UK curriculum, and offer GCSEs and A levels. Class sizes are small.

Most International schools are members of NABSS ( National Association of British Schools in Spain)

SPANISH SCHOOLS

State education is free from pre-school up to the age of 18 years. The difference here is that you are expected to pay for books, stationery, and for extra curricular activities.

PRE- SCHOOL (aged 1 to 6)

There are private nurseries and also state nurseries. The perfect way to integrate your child into the Spanish community.

COMPULSORY EDUCATION (aged 6 to 14)

When pupils have completed this basic general education, they will receive a certificate which determines where they will move on to next.

Unlike schools in the UK...if a child fails their end of year exams in both primary and secondary education-they may have to repeat the entire academic year over again. Good and also neccesary for some...and a good motivator for others!!

TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (aged 14 to 16)

Pupils who are less academic will attend a vocational school. First year is compulsory and will cover the teaching of general career knowledge.

The second year is optional and pupils will be allowed to concentrate on a particular subject, whilst also participating in work placements.

HIGH SCHOOL

The more academic pupils go onto a secondary school where they will study for a diploma.
